This is what her looks like after taking out last week's twist. Her twist last between one to two weeks. It all depends on how much it wipes her dirty hands in her hair how long they last. Also she refused to keep her hair in a wrap at night. If she would I am sure it would like longer.
I have been using Soft & Beautiful Just for Me! 2-in-1 Conditioning Shampoo for about two years now. I switch over to the 2-in-1 because of the following picture.
She fights me when I wash her hair. This was an easy day. Only half of my leg and shirt got wet.
Now her hair is clean and wet. This means I have to work quickly. Styling her hair wet works the best for me. It's very easy to comb out the remaining knots out.
To keep the moisture in her hair I use Cantu Shea Butter. It does not flake or leave extra oils. It sounds greats. It also reactivates when she becomes extra sweaty so she doesn't smell sweaty.
I use Scunci's Girl hair ties. I used to use those hair ties that had the metal closure. After a few uses the metal would rust. Gross! I switched over because the colors stay bright and don't pull too much when I take them out. I use the large ones at the root and the smaller ones on the ends.
I start from the back and move my way to the front. This is the way she let's me do it.
Part
Hair tie and start twisting
Finish with a small tie. Now repeat about 25 more times.
Half way point.
1 hour and 30 mins later we are done.
There are 26 twists in her hair. Since her hair is so long it takes a long time to twist. Before she returns to school I am going to straighten and cut her ends. That's not going to be fun.

My goodness she's gorgeous! And I love the colorful hair bands. My kids have the opposit hair, fair and straight. They still fight me on washing and combing. I can't imagine having to do this!
