My New GYN: Should I Get Bariatric Surgery?
Yep.. The title is right. I am not going to get in the details of my V. There’s no need to overshare. lol I had my first visit with my new GYN. It was a Women’s Wellness visit. She checked my overall well-being. After she checked me from head to toe, she checked my chart. She noted that I am a very health women. The only thing I needed to work on was my weight. Just like my regular doctor, she doesn’t want my weight to put a strain on my heart and other vital organs. I told her about my road to bariatric surgery. She asked me if I had discussed this was my primary doctor. Of course I did. The next thing she said shocked me a little (but in a good way). She said that I didn’t need to do it. I am in great health and I don’t even look 37 years old or look like I have three children. She said that I could lose the weight on my own. I know she wouldn’t say this stuff to blow smoke up my behind. She is a medical professional and looks like she had been around for a long time. She made me rethink this just a little bit if I should do this.
I did some thinking and this is what I am going to do. I am going to follow the Weight Management Program given to me by the bariatric team. I am already have way through the required about of time. Two more months under the care of the bariatric team isn’t going to hurt. Once I complete the required four months, we’ll see if my insurance will cover the surgery. And that’s the plan.
